World Guard Region Protect Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I protect my spawn from players breaking blocks?
First create a WorldGuard region around your spawn using WorldGuard's selection tools, then run /wgrp addregion [region] [world] to enable World Guard Region Protect on that zone. All block breaking and placing will be blocked by default, even for operators.
Can I let specific players build in a protected zone?
Yes, give trusted builders the wgrp.regionprotect permission and they'll be able to place and break blocks in protected zones. You can assign this permission through your permissions plugin to individual players or groups.
Will explosions still destroy my decorations if I protect the region?
No, once you add a region with /wgrp addregion, explosions from Creepers, Withers, TNT, Ghasts, and End Crystals are blocked from damaging blocks, item frames, paintings, and armor stands in that zone.
How do I create a sub-zone where players can freely build?
Create a smaller WorldGuard region inside your protected zone, then add it as a separate protected region with /wgrp addregion—the plugin allows you to designate specific sub-zones with different build permissions.
What commands does this plugin block?
The plugin blocks dangerous WorldGuard commands that could delete regions or modify flags by mistake, preventing accidental loss of your region settings. Staff attempting these commands will trigger alert notifications if they have the wgrp.notify.admin permission.
Can players use buckets to place water or lava in protected zones?
No, bucket interactions are disabled in protected zones, so players cannot place water, lava, or use buckets to modify the environment.
Do operators bypass the protection by default?
No, even server operators are restricted by default—they must have the wgrp.regionprotect permission to build in protected zones, keeping your builds safe from accidental edits.
How do I get alerts when someone tries to break blocks in a protected zone?
Give yourself or your staff the wgrp.command.spy permission to receive notifications when players attempt to break or place blocks in protected areas.
What happens if I remove a region with /wgrp removeregion?
The zone will no longer be protected by this plugin, though the original WorldGuard region will remain—players will be able to break blocks and explosions will damage builds again.
Do I need to restart the server after changing the config?
No, run /wgrp reload to apply changes to your configuration and message files without restarting.
