Understanding Seasonal Color Changes in Biomes

Seasonal Tinting System

Woodlands Extra Mod applies seasonal color tags to biomes, meaning foliage, grass, and water can shift appearance throughout the year. However, not all biomes experience the same seasonal variation—some change noticeably while others remain consistent year-round.

How Seasons Affect Your World

Biomes with seasonal changes will display different grass and leaf colors as time passes. Leaves may shift from green to orange/red, and grass may become more golden or brown depending on the biome's climate tag.

Biomes without seasonal changes maintain their appearance regardless of in-game time, typically representing climates that don't experience dramatic seasonal shifts (like tropical or consistently cold regions).

What You'll Notice

If you're building in a biome and the colors seem to shift over time, that's the seasonal system working. This affects:

  • Leaf block colors
  • Grass block colors
  • Water tinting

The changes are purely visual and don't affect gameplay mechanics. If you prefer consistent colors, choose biomes tagged as having minimal or no seasonal variation, or use resource packs to override the tinting.
