Woodlands Extra Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Why do my biomes look different after installing this mod?
Woodlands Extra Mod changes the terrain generation and decoration of most vanilla biomes, adding features like larger trees, boulders, and flower clusters. These changes apply to new chunks; existing terrain won't update unless you explore new areas or use a world regeneration tool.
How do I find a specific new biome?
Use the Finding Specific New Biomes guide to learn which climate zones contain the biome you want, then travel toward that region. Biomes are distributed naturally based on temperature and humidity, so snowy biomes cluster near poles and hot biomes near the equator.
Do the trees in this mod use vanilla blocks?
Yes, all trees and decorative elements use only vanilla blocks, so the mod is fully compatible with vanilla survival and doesn't require any new textures or assets.
What does 'seasonal color changes' mean?
Some biomes have tags that cause grass, leaves, and foliage to shift color slightly with the seasons if you use a mod or resource pack that supports seasonal changes; other biomes remain the same year-round. See Understanding Seasonal Color Changes in Biomes for details.
Can I use this mod with other world generation mods?
Woodlands Extra Mod completely overhauls biome generation, so it will conflict with other mods that do the same; you should choose either this mod or another terrain/biome mod, not both.
Will this mod slow down my game?
Since it uses only vanilla blocks and doesn't add new items or entities, performance impact is minimal; however, generating large amounts of new terrain with complex trees may take slightly longer than vanilla.
How do I choose a good biome for my base?
Read Choosing a Biome for Your Base to learn about the aesthetic and practical differences between biomes, then explore a few candidates to see which trees, decorations, and terrain suit your building style.
Are the new biomes balanced for survival mode?
Yes, all new biomes use vanilla blocks and follow vanilla mob spawning rules, so survival difficulty and resource availability are consistent with the base game.
Can I build with the new trees from this mod?
The trees are made of vanilla wood and leaves, so you can harvest and use them like any other tree; see Building with Realistic Trees and Natural Decorations for design inspiration.
Do I need to start a new world to see the changes?
You can add this mod to an existing world and see changes in newly generated chunks, but old terrain will remain unchanged; starting a new world ensures you experience the full overhaul from the beginning.
