Finding Specific New Biomes

Biome Distribution and Search Strategy

Woodlands Extra Mod adds 42 new biomes across the overworld, but they don't spawn randomly everywhere. Biomes are organized by climate zones—snowy biomes cluster near poles, hot biomes near the equator, and temperate biomes in between, just like vanilla Minecraft but with more variety.

How to Locate Biomes

Use the F3 debug screen (or your mod menu equivalent) to check your current biome name as you travel. This tells you exactly what you're in.

Travel systematically: Move toward different climate zones. If you want a specific biome type:

  • Snowy variants: Head toward the poles (high Z coordinates in one direction)
  • Hot/desert variants: Travel toward the opposite pole
  • Temperate/forest variants: Explore mid-range latitudes

Look for terrain clues: New biomes feature distinctive decorative elements—unique tree shapes, boulder formations, and flower clusters. If the landscape looks different from vanilla, you've likely found a new biome.

Use a map mod (like Xaero's Minimap) to see biome boundaries in real-time and plan routes more efficiently.

Biome generation respects vanilla climate logic, so exploration follows natural patterns rather than random searching.
