Choosing a Biome for Your Base
Evaluating Biome Characteristics
With 42 new biomes plus modified vanilla ones, selecting a base location depends on your priorities: aesthetics, resources, building space, and climate.
Key Factors to Consider
Terrain and building space: Flatter biomes offer easier construction. Mountainous or heavily forested areas provide natural cover but require more terraforming.
Tree availability: Biomes with abundant, realistic trees provide renewable wood. Dense forests may require clearing, while sparse areas need replanting.
Seasonal changes: If you want visual variety, choose a biome with seasonal color shifts. For consistency, pick one with minimal seasonal variation.
Resource proximity: Scout nearby biomes for specific blocks (stone variants, sand, clay). Diverse terrain nearby means less travel for materials.
Aesthetic preference: Visit several biomes and take screenshots. The mod's decorative elements—boulder patterns, flower types, tree shapes—vary significantly. Choose one that matches your building style.
Testing Before Committing
Build a small temporary shelter first. Spend several in-game days observing the biome's appearance, checking for seasonal changes, and confirming resource availability before investing in a permanent base.
