Welcome Message Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Where do I configure welcome messages?
Welcome messages are configured in a config file located in your mod's config folder. Open this file in any text editor, and you'll find settings for each of your three message slots, including text, color, and URL options.
Can I use welcome messages on single-player worlds?
By default, welcome messages only appear on dedicated servers, but you can change this behavior in the config file to enable them in single-player if you want.
How do I add a clickable link to a welcome message?
In the config file, locate the URL field for the message you want to modify and enter the full link (for example, a Discord invite or rules page). When players see the message in chat, they'll be able to click it directly.
What chat colors are available?
You can choose from 16 standard Minecraft chat colors to style each message. The config file will list the available color names you can use.
Do I need command blocks or plugins to use this mod?
No—everything is handled through the config file, so you don't need command blocks, plugins, or any other setup beyond editing the configuration.
Can I send more than three welcome messages?
The mod supports up to three welcome messages by default. If you need more, you'll need to check the config file to see if additional message slots can be added.
Why aren't my welcome messages showing up?
Check that the mod is installed correctly and that you're on a dedicated server (or have enabled single-player mode in the config). Also verify that your message text is filled in and the config file has been saved.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
Welcome Message Mod is lightweight and only sends messages when players join, so it has minimal impact on server performance.
Can I change the message after players have already joined?
Yes—edit the config file and save it. The new message will display to players who join after the change is made.
Does the blank line before messages help with readability?
Yes, the mod automatically adds a blank line before the first welcome message to separate it from other chat clutter, making it stand out to new players.
