How to Make It Rain or Storm on Your Client for Screenshots and Builds

Set the mood with a weather override

Sometimes you want rain or a thunderstorm for atmosphere — a screenshot, a cinematic, a build showcase — but the server or your world is stuck on clear skies. This mod lets you force the look of rain or thunder on your own client without waiting for natural weather.

In chat, type:

  • /cweather rain for a steady rainfall look
  • /cweather thunder for rain plus lightning flashes and darker skies

The /clientweather prefix works identically if you prefer the longer command.

Things to keep in mind

Because the change is client-side only, the world around you does not actually react. Water does not fill cauldrons, crops are not watered, and mobs do not change their spawning behavior. If you are taking screenshots, this is usually exactly what you want — you get the visual without side effects.

If you are building and want the rain to stop, run /cweather clear. To return to whatever the server is actually doing, run /cweather off. You can switch between clear, rain, and thunder as often as you like; each command simply replaces the previous override.
