How to Change the Weather on a Server Without Affecting Other Players

Use the client-side weather command

This mod lets you override the weather visually on your own client only. No packets are sent, so nobody else sees a change and the server's actual weather is untouched.

Open chat and type one of the following:

  • /cweather clear to make the sky look clear
  • /cweather rain to make it look like it is raining
  • /cweather thunder to make it look like a thunderstorm

The longer form /clientweather works exactly the same way, so use whichever you find easier to remember.

What actually changes

Only the visuals change. Rain particles, darkening skies, and lightning flashes are rendered for you, but the underlying weather state on the server is unchanged. That means crops still grow or fail based on the real weather, mobs behave normally, and other players see whatever the server is actually doing. If you are in a biome where rain would damage you or affect gameplay, this mod will not protect you from that — it only changes what you see.

If you want to stop overriding the weather and go back to seeing the server's real weather, run /cweather off.
