How to Craft and Place Your First Waystone

Gathering the Materials

Waystones are crafted from a Warp Stone core surrounded by a ring of eight stone-type blocks. The exact stone varies by variant (Deepslate, Mossy, Sandy, Black, etc.), but the base recipe always uses a Warp Stone in the center. Warp Stones themselves are crafted from an Attuned Shard plus surrounding stone. Mine Amethyst or trade with villagers to get shards if you cannot find them in loot chests.

Placing and Activating

Place the Waystone on solid ground in a safe, well-lit spot. Right-click it to open the travel menu. The first time you interact, the stone registers your current position as a destination. From then on, any player who has visited it can teleport back. You do not need to "activate" it with an item — simply interacting adds it to your discovered list.

Naming Your Waystone

Shift-right-click (or use the naming option in the GUI) to give the Waystone a custom name. This is essential once you have several, since the travel menu lists them by name. Pick something memorable like "Base" or "Mine Entrance." Named Waystones are also easier to find on the world map if you use a minimap mod.

Sharing With Others

Waystones are shared by default on most servers. Anyone who walks up and right-clicks will discover it. If you want a private network, use Portstones or Sharestones instead — those are bound to specific players.
