Waxed Icons Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I tell if a copper block is waxed just by looking at it in my inventory?
Waxed copper blocks display a small yellow dot on their icon in inventory slots, while unwaxed copper blocks have no dot. This makes it easy to distinguish them at a glance without having to place them down.
Do waxed copper blocks still show their oxidation color?
Yes, waxed copper blocks retain their oxidation color (fresh, exposed, weathered, or oxidized), but they won't oxidize any further. The yellow dot simply indicates the block is waxed and protected from future oxidation.
Can I use this mod to organize my storage system?
Absolutely. The yellow dot makes it simple to sort waxed and unwaxed copper into separate storage areas, chests, or shulker boxes without confusion.
Does the mod work with all types of copper blocks?
Yes, the mod adds the yellow indicator dot to waxed versions of all copper block variants, including stairs, slabs, and full blocks at every oxidation stage.
Will this mod affect my game performance?
No, this mod only changes how icons appear in your inventory and has no impact on game performance, chunk loading, or server performance.
What if I want to unwax a copper block—does the dot disappear?
Yes, if you use an axe to scrape off wax from a copper block, the yellow dot will no longer appear on that block's icon once it's unwaxed.
Does this mod work in multiplayer or on servers?
Yes, the mod works in both single-player and multiplayer worlds. All players with the mod installed will see the yellow dots on waxed copper blocks.
Can I accidentally place a waxed block thinking it's unwaxed?
The yellow dot makes this unlikely, but if you're unsure, you can always check the block's state after placing it—unwaxed copper will continue to oxidize over time, while waxed copper will not.
Does the mod change how waxing works or how long it takes?
No, the mod only adds a visual indicator to waxed blocks. The waxing mechanic itself—using honey blocks to wax copper—works exactly the same as vanilla Minecraft.
What if I'm building with both waxed and unwaxed copper intentionally?
The yellow dot helps you keep track of which blocks are which, so you can intentionally place waxed copper in some areas and let unwaxed copper oxidize naturally in others for aesthetic variety.
