How to Make Water More Transparent in Minecraft with the Water Improved Resource Pack

Confirm the Pack Is Active

Before troubleshooting clarity, make sure the resource pack is actually loaded. Open Options → Resource Packs and check that Water Improved sits in the *Selected* column on the right. If it is still on the left, click its arrow to move it over, then press Done. Resource packs load in order, so if you run other packs that also touch water textures, drag Water Improved above or below them until the water looks the way you want.

Check Your Water Settings

Water clarity is affected by more than the pack alone. In Options → Video Settings, look at your graphics mode and any water-related toggles. Fancy graphics and certain biome or fog effects can still tint or obscure water even with a transparent texture, so switching to Fast or adjusting fog can reveal the full effect. If you use shaders, remember they override vanilla water textures entirely — disable them to see the pack's transparency.

Verify the Result

Swim to a body of water and look straight down. With the pack working, submerged terrain, mobs, and items should be clearly visible with little to no blue haze. If water still looks opaque, reload the pack by toggling it off and on, or restart the game so the textures reapply cleanly.
