Water Improved Resource Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on the Water Improved Resource Pack after installing it?
Open Options, then Resource Packs, and move Water Improved from the Available list to the Selected list. Make sure it sits above any other pack that also edits water textures, or its transparency will be overridden.
Does Water Improved change anything besides water?
No, it only replaces the vanilla water textures to make them clearer. Blocks, mobs, sky, and everything else stay exactly as they are in vanilla.
Why is my water still cloudy after enabling the pack?
Another resource pack loaded above Water Improved is probably overwriting the water texture. Drag Water Improved to the top of the Selected list, or remove the conflicting pack.
Can I use Water Improved with shaders?
Yes, but shaders handle water rendering themselves, so the pack's transparency may be ignored or look different. If you want the pack's effect, disable the shader or use one that leaves water textures alone.
Will this pack hurt my FPS?
No, it only swaps texture files, so performance is essentially unchanged. Any lag you see comes from other mods, shaders, or your render settings, not this pack.
Does Water Improved work in multiplayer servers?
Yes, resource packs are client-side, so you can use it on any server. Other players won't see the clearer water unless they also have the pack installed.
Can I see mobs and items underwater better with this pack?
Yes, that's the main point of the pack. Because the water texture is more transparent, drowned, fish, and dropped items are visible without the usual blue haze.
Is Water Improved compatible with other resource packs?
It works alongside packs that don't touch water textures, like GUI or mob packs. Just keep Water Improved above any pack that also edits water so its textures win.
How do I go back to normal vanilla water?
Open Resource Packs and move Water Improved back to the Available list, or click the pack to deselect it. The game reverts to the default water texture immediately.
Does Water Improved work in the Nether, End, or with modded water?
It only affects vanilla water textures, so Nether lava and other fluids are untouched. Modded liquids from other mods keep their own textures unless those mods use vanilla water.
