How to Fix Water Improved Not Working or Water Still Looking Cloudy
Rule Out Pack Conflicts
If water still looks murky, another resource pack is likely overriding it. In Options → Resource Packs, move Water Improved to the top of the selected list so it loads last and wins any texture conflicts. Packs that retexture water, biomes, or the environment are the usual culprits. Temporarily disable all other packs to confirm Water Improved works on its own, then re-enable them one at a time.
Check Shaders and Video Settings
Shaders replace water rendering completely, so any shader pack will hide the effect. Turn shaders off in your shader menu or video settings to test. Also review graphics mode and fog options — heavy fog or certain biome effects can still obscure water even with a transparent texture. Switching graphics mode or reducing fog often restores the clear look.
Reload and Restart
If settings look correct but nothing changes, force a reload. Toggle the pack off, apply, then toggle it back on. If that fails, fully close and reopen Minecraft so textures rebuild from scratch. Confirm you are testing in an actual water body, not a cauldron or a single source block, since those render differently. If water is clear in one world but not another, the difference is almost always a per-world resource pack or shader setting.
