How do I find a shelter when I'm lost?
Shelters spawn naturally across most biomes as you explore, so keep walking and look for the distinctive capsule structures. If you're in plains, deserts, oceans, cherry groves, snowy peaks, dark forests, or taigas, shelters should appear within reasonable travel distance. You can also use the mod's configuration settings to adjust spawn frequency if shelters feel too rare or common.
What's the difference between the Bronze, Iron, Gold, and Diamond tiers?
Each tier represents increasing quality and detail: Bronze shelters are the most basic, while Diamond shelters are the most elaborate with the best loot inside. Higher tiers have more decorative elements and their waxed oxidized copper chests contain rarer, more specialized gear suited to that tier's theme.
How do I use the geyser elevator?
Step into the water pool on the shelter's base floor and the geyser will launch you upward to access upper levels. You can jump off at any floor as you rise, or ride it all the way to the top.
Can I break the waxed copper chests and take them with me?
The waxed copper chests are part of the shelter structure and cannot be broken or moved; you can only open them to collect the supplies inside. This design keeps the shelters intact for future visits.
Do ocean shelters actually protect me from drowning?
Ocean shelters have a working Conduit that automatically activates in deep water, granting you water breathing and other underwater benefits. You still need to reach the shelter first, but once inside you're protected.
Can I add my own furnaces and enchantment tables to a shelter?
Yes, each shelter has open interior spaces specifically designed for you to place additional crafting tools, furnaces, enchantment tables, or other equipment. This lets you customize the shelter to your needs without modifying the original structure.
What's inside the special waxed oxidized copper chests?
These hidden chests contain unique themed gear and supplies that match the shelter's tier and biome, offering better rewards than the standard waxed copper chests. Finding and opening them is part of the exploration reward.
Why can't I find a shelter in the Dark Forest?
Dark Forest shelters do spawn, but they're built high up with a mini mansion rooftop and canopy access, so they're harder to spot from ground level. Look upward into the trees or use the geyser elevator once you find one to reach the upper levels.
Do shelters respawn loot or reset after I take everything?
Shelters do not respawn their loot; once you've collected items from the chests, they remain empty. Treat each shelter as a one-time supply stop during your journey.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod generates compact structures that shouldn't significantly impact performance, but having many shelters loaded at once in a large world may have minor effects depending on your system. You can adjust spawn rates in the mod's configuration to balance exploration and performance.
