Getting Started with Wakes

Seeing Wakes in Action

Wakes is a client-side visual mod, so there is nothing to craft or place. Once it is installed on your client, the effect appears automatically whenever something moves through water. Ride a boat across an ocean, swim through a river, or watch a mob wade along the shore, and a trail of foam and ripples will form behind the moving object.

Because the mod runs entirely on your side, you can use it on any multiplayer server without the server owner installing anything. Other players will not see the wakes unless they also have the mod, but your own view will show them normally.

If you want to change how the effect looks, open the in-game settings screen. There you can adjust wake resolution, opacity, and visual style, toggle water blending options, and change the splash plane size to balance performance against detail. Lowering resolution or opacity is the simplest way to reduce the visual load if you notice a drop in framerate.
