How to Talk in Voice Chat Without Triggering Sculk Sensors (Sneak and Whisper Tactics)

Why You Keep Getting Detected

By default, any voice activity near sculk can register as a vibration. In deep dark caves or ancient cities, this is a death sentence. The mod gives you two main ways to stay silent: sneaking and whispering.

Sneak to Suppress Vibrations

Enable sneak_interaction in vcinteraction.properties. Once active, holding the sneak key while you talk prevents your voice from generating a sculk vibration. This mirrors vanilla behavior where sneaking muffles your step sounds. Practice the habit: crouch first, then speak. If you release sneak mid-sentence, the tail end of your speech can still trigger sensors.

Whisper to Stay Quiet

Enable whisper_interaction to control whether whispers count. If you disable it, whispering in Simple Voice Chat produces no vibration at all, letting you coordinate with nearby teammates silently. If you leave it enabled, whispers still trigger sensors but usually at a lower effective volume, which may fall under the decibel threshold.

Combine Both

For maximum stealth, sneak and whisper at the same time. This is the safest way to communicate inside an ancient city while shriekers are nearby.
