Voice Chat Interaction Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get started with this mod after installing it?
Just install it on the server alongside Simple Voice Chat and start talking near sculk sensors. No items or blocks need to be crafted—the mod works automatically once both mods are loaded. If nothing triggers, check that vcinteraction.properties was generated in your server config folder.
Does this mod work on the client or only the server?
It's a server-side mod, so only the server needs it installed for the sculk and warden interactions to work. Clients still need Simple Voice Chat itself to actually transmit voice, but they don't need this mod.
Why aren't my sculk sensors reacting to my voice?
The most common causes are talking too quietly for the decibel threshold, being too far from the sensor, or having sneak_interaction enabled while sneaking. Check your voice_sculk or decibel setting in vcinteraction.properties and make sure your mic input level is high enough.
Can the warden hear me through voice chat?
Yes, the warden detects voice chat activity the same way it detects other vibrations, so talking near one can draw it toward you. This is the core of the stealth gameplay the mod adds—stay quiet or whisper to avoid it.
How do I stop my voice from triggering sensors while sneaking?
Enable sneak_interaction in vcinteraction.properties so vibrations are suppressed while you're crouching. Then just hold sneak whenever you need to talk near sculk without setting it off.
Do whispers and group chat trigger sculk sensors too?
By default they can, depending on your whisper_interaction and group_interaction settings. If you want only normal proximity chat to trigger vibrations, disable those two options in the config.
How do I change how loud I have to talk to trigger a sensor?
Adjust the decibel threshold in vcinteraction.properties—lower it to make quiet speech trigger sensors, raise it so only loud talking does. This is useful for tuning how punishing the stealth experience feels.
What does the vibration frequency setting actually do?
It sets which sculk vibration frequency voice chat is registered as, which affects how sensors and the warden interpret the sound. Changing it lets you fine-tune sensor behavior or avoid conflicts with other vibration sources.
Is this mod compatible with other voice chat addons?
It's built specifically around Simple Voice Chat, so it works alongside most addons that use the same voice data. Conflicts are rare, but if sensors stop responding, test with other voice addons temporarily disabled.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues on my server?
It's lightweight since it only hooks voice events into existing sculk and warden logic, so performance impact is minimal. If you notice lag, it's more likely from many players talking near lots of sensors at once than from the mod itself.
