How to Configure Group Chat and Whisper Vibrations in vcinteraction.properties

Finding the Config

Open vcinteraction.properties in your server's config folder. This file controls how different Simple Voice Chat audio types translate into sculk vibrations. Edit it while the server is stopped, then restart so changes load cleanly.

The Two Key Toggles

  • group_interaction: when enabled, audio from group chats creates vibrations. Disable it if you want group calls to be stealthy while proximity chat still triggers sensors.
  • whisper_interaction: when enabled, whispers create vibrations. Disable it to let players whisper freely near sculk.

Practical Setups

  • Hardcore stealth server: disable both, enable sneak_interaction, and raise the decibel threshold so only shouting registers.
  • PvP trap server: enable both so any communication near a sculk trap gives away a player's position.
  • Casual co-op: disable group and whisper interactions so teammates can plan without constantly summoning the warden, but keep proximity voice triggering sensors for atmosphere.

Testing Changes

After restarting, stand near a sculk sensor and try each chat mode. Watch for the sensor ripple to confirm which audio types still trigger. Adjust one setting at a time so you know exactly which toggle changed the behavior.
