Vocal Distance Sync Plugin FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I link my Minecraft account to the companion app?
Open the companion app and select Server mode, then enter your server room. The app will display a unique verification command—copy it and paste it into Minecraft chat using your matching username or Gamertag. Once you run the command, your account is linked and ready to use voice chat.
Why can't I hear other players even though voice chat is enabled?
Check that both players are within voice range (distance-based audio means you must be close enough to hear each other), that neither player is muted using /vcmc:m false, and that you've both verified your accounts with the companion app. If the issue persists, try leaving and rejoining your voice group or restarting the companion app.
Can Java and Bedrock players talk to each other?
Yes—the plugin supports full crossplay between Java and Bedrock players as long as they're on the same server and within voice range of each other.
How do I create a private voice group that only certain players can join?
Use the command /vcmc:groups create " " " " to create a password-protected group, then share the password with players you want to invite. Other players can join using /vcmc:groups join " ".
What does the audio filter do and how do I apply one?
Audio filters add sound effects like cave echoes, underwater muffling, or radio static to a player's voice to match their environment or for roleplay. Admins can apply filters using /vcmc:sfx-player set [effect], and remove them with /vcmc:sfx-player clear .
How do I adjust the volume of a specific player?
Open the in-game voice menu with /vcmc:menu and use the volume controls to adjust individual player loudness without affecting others.
Can server admins broadcast messages to all players at once?
Yes—admins can use the /vcmc:megaphone command to enable global voice broadcasting, which lets their voice reach the entire server regardless of distance.
Do I need to install a client-side mod for this to work?
No—the plugin works without requiring client-side mods; you only need the companion app on your phone or computer to connect to voice chat.
What happens if I leave a voice group?
You'll disconnect from that group's voice channel and return to proximity-based distance audio with nearby players. Use /vcmc:groups leave to exit, or /vcmc:groups join to switch to a different group.
Can admins move or remove players from voice groups?
Yes—admins can use /vcmc:groups-admin move to place players into a specific group, or /vcmc:groups-admin leave to remove them from their current voice room.
