Locate and Inspect Generated Features in Your World

Finding Feature Generation Points

Use the locate command to pinpoint exactly where your configured features are generating, which is essential for debugging placement issues.

Basic Location Search

1. Run /locate feature <configured_feature> where <configured_feature> is the full ID of your feature (e.g., mypack:custom_ore_deposit)

2. The command returns coordinates of nearby generation points for that feature

3. Travel to those coordinates to inspect the generated terrain

Inspecting Generation Results

Once at a feature location:

  • Check if the feature generated at the correct height range
  • Verify it respects terrain constraints (water, stone type, biome, etc.)
  • Look for overlapping or conflicting features
  • Use /getDensity commands to check density function values at that position

Debugging Missing Features

If /locate feature returns no results:

  • Verify the feature ID matches your datapack exactly
  • Check that your feature is registered in the configured features registry
  • Ensure applyProcessorLists and other generation gamerules aren't disabled
  • Review the logs for height range errors—the mod reports these directly
