Visual Potion Effects Resource Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I get the effect icons to show up on my potions?
Just install the resource pack and enable it in your resource pack list; the icons appear automatically on potions, splash potions, lingering potions, and tipped arrows. No config or extra steps are needed.
Why are my potion names color-coded?
The pack color-codes item names to match their effect icon so you can recognize them faster in your inventory. This is built into the pack and applies to all potion-related items.
Does this pack work in multiplayer servers?
Yes, resource packs are client-side, so the icons and colored names show up for you on any server. Other players won't see them unless they also have the pack installed.
Will this pack affect my game's performance?
No, it only changes item textures and names, so it has virtually no impact on FPS or performance. It's safe to use alongside shaders and other packs.
Can I use this with other resource packs?
Yes, but you need to place this pack above any other pack that also changes potion or item textures, otherwise its icons may be overridden. Load order matters in your resource pack list.
Do the icons show on tipped arrows too?
Yes, tipped arrows display the effect icon just like potions, so you can tell them apart in your inventory and hotbar. This is especially useful for PvP and sorting ammo.
What special items get bonus icons?
The pack adds icons to the Bottle o' Enchanting, pufferfish, and golden apple, giving them a more informative look. These are cosmetic additions to help you identify them quickly.
Why aren't the icons showing up for me?
Make sure the pack is enabled and placed at the top of your resource pack list, and that you're not using another pack that overrides the same textures. If it still doesn't work, try restarting the game.
Does this pack change how potions work in-game?
No, it's purely visual; it doesn't alter brewing, effects, or any gameplay mechanics. It only changes how potions and related items look and are named.
Can I use this pack on Bedrock Edition?
This pack is made for Java Edition, so it won't work on Bedrock. Check for a separate Bedrock version if you play on that platform.
