Control How Fast Corpses Decompose

Adjusting Rotten Speed

The Rotten Speed world rule determines how quickly organs, flesh, and bones break down after a mob dies. By default, remains persist for a moderate duration before vanishing entirely.

How to Change It

1. Open your world settings or access the world rules menu (this varies by your launcher/server setup)

2. Locate the Rotten Speed setting

3. Increase the value to make remains last longer in your world

4. Decrease the value to speed up decomposition

5. Apply the change and load your world

Why Adjust This?

If you want a grittier, more realistic battlefield aesthetic, raise the value so blood and organs persist longer. If graphic remains bother you or you want a cleaner world, lower it for faster cleanup. Some players increase it during boss fights to preserve the visual spectacle of the Warden's unique remains, then lower it again for regular mob farming.

Note: Changes to Rotten Speed apply to new remains only—existing corpses on the ground won't retroactively speed up or slow down their decay.
