Visceral Remains Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to do anything to start using this mod?
No setup required—the mod works automatically once installed. Death animations trigger whenever you deal overkill damage to mobs, and you can customize behavior through world rules if desired.
Why aren't some mobs leaving remains when I kill them?
Non-living mobs like Golems, Blazes, Slimes, and Vexes don't produce visceral remains by design. Only living creatures with flesh and blood will trigger death animations.
How do I stop maggots from spawning on corpses?
Use the Maggot Spawn world rule to toggle maggot generation on or off based on your preference.
Can I make corpses disappear faster or stay longer?
Yes—adjust the Rotten Speed world rule to control how quickly organs and remains decompose in your world.
What's the difference between how different mobs die?
Each mob type has unique remains: standard mobs drop organs and blood, skeletons shatter into bone fragments, Endermen leave purple blood, insects splatter green blood, and the Warden produces large-scale visceral effects.
Do remains affect my FPS or cause lag?
Remains are visual effects that decay over time, so they shouldn't cause significant performance issues, but reducing Rotten Speed or disabling maggots can help if you experience slowdowns.
Will this mod work with other mods that add custom mobs?
The mod applies its death animations to standard mob types; compatibility with custom mobs depends on how those mods are coded, so results may vary.
Does overkill damage have to be by a specific amount to trigger animations?
Animations trigger whenever damage exceeds an enemy's remaining health—there's no minimum overkill threshold required.
Can I disable visceral effects for specific mob types?
The mod doesn't offer per-mob-type toggles, but you can control overall behavior through maggot spawning and decomposition speed settings.
Do remains affect multiplayer servers or just single-player worlds?
The mod works in both single-player and multiplayer; world rules can be configured per-world or per-server to control behavior for all players.
