Maximize Damage with Heavy Weapon Lunges
Understanding Lunge Mechanics
Heavy weapons deal more damage when you use their forward lunge effectively. Each lunge consumes one of your four available charges, which refill slowly over time. The key to maximizing damage is timing your lunges to build momentum before impact.
Executing Effective Heavy Attacks
1. Build your approach: Run toward your target to gain speed before initiating your swing.
2. Commit to the lunge: Hold the direction you want to move while attacking. Heavy weapons will throw you further forward than fast weapons, closing distance quickly.
3. Use the freeze effect: When your weapon connects, both you and the target briefly pause. This freeze locks in all the speed you've built up, releasing it as knockback when the pause ends.
4. Don't waste charges on weak targets—save them for dangerous enemies.
5. Watch the knockback: Your target will be pushed in the exact direction your weapon swings. Use this to separate enemies or push them into hazards.
Pro Tip
The bounce-back effect when you hit an enemy is minimal, so you can immediately follow up with another attack if you have charges available. Position yourself to use terrain to your advantage during the freeze effect.
