Violent World Hazards Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on random disasters in my world?
Type /disaster random_spawning true into chat to enable random hazard events. You can also use /gamerule naturaldisasters:random_spawning true if you prefer game rule controls. Adjust how often they occur with /disaster settings.
Can I spawn a disaster on a specific player?
Yes, use /disaster spawn to trigger any hazard directly on chosen players. Replace with the disaster type (like earthquake or meteor) and with the player name.
What's the fastest way to stop a disaster that's happening right now?
Use the disaster stopper item to instantly clear any active hazard. Get it from the Operator Items tab or type /disaster tools to receive all disaster control items at once.
How do I get the Magic Sticks to spawn disasters manually?
Type /disaster tools into chat to receive all Magic Sticks and the disaster stopper item in your inventory. You can also find them in the Operator Items tab in creative mode.
Which disaster is the most dangerous to my base?
Earthquakes and sinkholes pose structural threats by opening chasms and lava pits beneath your build, while tsunamis and tornadoes sweep away blocks and structures. Meteors and nukes deal explosive damage over a wide area, so building underground or in protected areas helps against most threats.
Can I customize which disasters spawn and how often?
Yes, type /disaster settings to open the in-game menu where you can adjust disaster frequency and toggle specific hazard types on or off. Changes apply immediately to your world.
Do disasters target only players or can they hit unattended bases?
Random disasters can spawn anywhere in your world when random spawning is enabled, so unattended bases are vulnerable. Using /disaster settings to lower spawn frequency or disable specific hazards helps protect areas you're not actively monitoring.
What's the difference between /disaster spawn and /spawn_natural_disaster?
/disaster spawn is the current command for spawning hazards on targeted players. /spawn_natural_disaster is the older command syntax used in earlier mod versions; check which version you're running if one doesn't work.
Can I turn off random disasters without uninstalling the mod?
Yes, type /disaster random_spawning false or /gamerule naturaldisasters:random_spawning false to disable random hazard spawning. You can still manually trigger disasters with Magic Sticks and commands whenever you want.
Do disasters destroy player-made structures permanently?
Yes, earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and explosions can destroy blocks and structures in their path. Build your base in protected locations, use the disaster stopper when needed, or adjust settings to reduce hazard frequency if you want to preserve your builds.
