Understand Naturally Spawned Armor on Villagers
What is Natural Armor?
Some villagers spawn in the world already wearing protective gear. This armor is different from equipment you place yourself and follows different rules.
Natural Armor Rarity
- Leather armor: Most common; frequently found on naturally generated villagers.
- Gold and iron armor: Appear occasionally on random villagers; less common than leather.
- Diamond armor: Rare; only found on a small percentage of naturally spawned villagers.
Key Differences from Player-Equipped Armor
- Cannot be removed by hand: Sneaking and right-clicking won't take off natural armor.
- Only drops on defeat: The only way to obtain naturally spawned armor is to defeat the villager wearing it.
- Retains appearance: Like player-equipped armor, natural gear displays on the villager's body.
Implications
Naturally armored villagers are tougher and will survive longer in combat. If you need the armor they're wearing, you'll have to choose between keeping the villager alive or harvesting their gear. Consider this when deciding which villagers to farm or protect.
