Villager Wear Armor Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I give armor to a villager?
Hold a helmet, chestplate, or boots in your main hand, then right-click the villager you want to equip. The armor piece will instantly appear on them.
Can I remove armor from a villager?
Yes—sneak (hold shift) and right-click on the villager with an empty hand to remove player-given armor. Note that naturally spawned armor cannot be removed this way and only drops when the villager dies.
What happens if a farmer equips a helmet?
Farmers cannot wear helmets, so if you equip one on a villager and they become a farmer, the helmet will be automatically removed.
Do villagers lose armor when they take damage?
Yes, armor takes durability damage during fights and will eventually break and disappear completely, just like player armor.
Can baby villagers wear armor?
Yes, you can equip armor on baby villagers to protect them during mob attacks, keeping your entire village safe.
Will dyed leather armor keep its color on villagers?
Yes, custom-dyed leather armor retains its colors when worn by villagers, so you can customize your village's appearance.
What armor materials are supported?
Villagers can wear helmets, chestplates, and boots made of leather, gold, iron, or diamond—but not leggings.
Why do some villagers spawn with armor already equipped?
This mod adds naturally armored villagers to world generation; leather is most common, iron and gold appear occasionally, and diamond gear is rare. This armor cannot be removed by hand.
Do I need to re-equip armor after a villager trades?
No, armor stays equipped on villagers even after they complete trades, so you only need to equip them once.
Will this mod cause lag with many armored villagers?
The mod is designed to be lightweight, but performance depends on your system and total number of villagers; equipping armor on dozens of villagers should have minimal impact on most setups.
