Equip a Villager with Armor

Getting Started

Armoring your villagers is straightforward and requires no crafting. You'll need the armor piece you want to equip and access to the villager.

Steps to Equip

1. Obtain armor: Craft or find a helmet, chestplate, or boots in leather, gold, iron, or diamond.

2. Hold the armor: Place the piece in your main hand (not offhand).

3. Approach the villager: Walk up to any adult or baby villager in your village.

4. Right-click to equip: Right-click on the villager while holding the armor. The piece will instantly appear on them.

5. Repeat as needed: You can equip multiple pieces—helmet, chestplate, and boots—on the same villager for full protection.

Tips

  • Dyed leather armor retains its custom colors when worn, so you can create color-coordinated village defenses.
  • Baby villagers can wear armor too, making your entire population safer during mob attacks.
  • Farmers have a special restriction: they cannot wear helmets. If a farmer is wearing one, equipping them as a farmer will remove it automatically.
