Villager Trades Edit Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the villager trade editor?
Look at a villager and run the command /villagertrades edit. This opens the GUI where you can add, remove, or modify all of that villager's trades.
Can I edit villager trades without commands?
No, you must use the /villagertrades edit command while looking at a villager. There is no right-click menu or alternative method.
Do custom trades persist if the villager dies?
Custom trades are stored on the individual villager, so if that villager dies, the trades are lost. Consider using name tags or keeping villagers in safe areas.
Can I copy trades from one villager to another?
The mod does not have a built-in copy feature. You must manually recreate each trade in the second villager's GUI.
What happens if I set a trade that requires items the player doesn't have?
The trade will appear in the villager's GUI but the player cannot complete it until they obtain the required items. This works the same as vanilla villager trades.
Can I make a villager trade multiple items for one item?
Yes, you can set up trades where the villager requires multiple different items in exchange for a single item.
Does this mod work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, server admins can use the /villagertrades edit command to set up custom trades. All players on the server will see the same custom trades.
Can I edit a villager's profession or level with this mod?
No, this mod only edits the trades themselves. You cannot change a villager's profession, level, or other properties.
What if I accidentally delete all a villager's trades?
There is no undo button in the GUI. If you delete trades, you must recreate them manually or reload your world without saving.
Does this mod affect performance if I create many custom trades?
The mod is lightweight and should not cause performance issues. Performance depends more on how many villagers you have loaded at once, which is a vanilla limitation.
