Understanding Zombie Villager Behavior in Ruins
What to Expect from Hostile Settlements
Zombie villagers inhabit most abandoned villages. Understanding their behavior helps you survive encounters:
Zombie villagers are hostile. Unlike cured zombie villagers, those in ruins are aggressive and will attack you on sight. They behave like standard zombies but may move in groups throughout the settlement.
They spawn continuously. Ruined villages lack proper lighting and intact structures, creating ideal conditions for zombie spawning. Expect reinforcements if you linger too long in one area.
Avoid direct confrontation when possible. If you're exploring for resources or mapping, use stealth. Crouch to reduce detection range and move quietly through the ruins.
Use terrain to your advantage. Climb buildings, cross rooftops, or use water to escape. Zombie villagers have the same movement limitations as regular zombies.
Prepare escape routes. Before entering a ruin, identify how you'll leave quickly if overwhelmed. Mark safe paths back to your base or a defensible position.
Gather resources quickly. If you're looting abandoned villages for materials, work fast and stay alert. The longer you stay, the more mobs will accumulate.
