Village Ruins 80 Abandoned Villages Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Do I need to create a new world for this to work?
Yes, the data pack affects village generation, so you need to generate new chunks for abandoned villages to appear. Existing villages in previously explored areas will remain unchanged.
How do I find one of the 20% of villages that are still safe?
Safe villages spawn randomly among the 80% abandoned ones, so exploration is key. Look for villages without cobwebs and zombie villagers—these are your trading hubs. Mapping out safe villages as you find them helps you plan trade routes.
Can I cure zombie villagers in abandoned villages?
Yes, you can cure zombie villagers using weakness potions and golden apples, just like in vanilla Minecraft. Reclaimed villagers will return to their professions and allow trading once cured and employed.
Will this work on my multiplayer server?
Yes, the data pack works on multiplayer servers without requiring mods on the client side. All players will see the same abandoned villages in newly generated chunks.
Does this mod conflict with other mods or data packs?
Since it uses default village generation pools, conflicts are rare, but other mods that heavily modify village generation may override it. Test compatibility by loading both together in a test world first.
What biomes get abandoned villages?
Abandoned villages appear in plains, desert, savanna, snowy, and taiga biomes—basically anywhere villages normally spawn. Forest and other biomes follow their standard village generation rules.
Do abandoned villages have loot I can collect?
Abandoned villages retain their normal loot chests, so you can still find resources in houses, wells, and other structures. The cobwebs and zombie villagers make looting more dangerous but not less rewarding.
Can I turn off the data pack for specific biomes?
The data pack affects all biomes equally and doesn't have built-in toggle options for individual biomes. You would need to manually edit the data pack files to customize which biomes are affected.
Will this affect my world's performance?
No, the data pack only changes village structure generation and doesn't add new entities or systems that drain performance. Zombie villagers behave like normal mobs, so performance impact is minimal.
What's the best strategy for early-game survival with this mod?
Focus on finding that first safe village for trading, or plan to cure zombie villagers early if you're willing to gather resources. Alternatively, establish a base away from villages initially and explore methodically to map safe trading locations.
