Troubleshoot Fog Still Appearing in Your World

Diagnosing Persistent Fog Issues

If you're still seeing fog despite having the View Distance Fix Mod installed, several factors might be at play.

Check Your Setup

1. Verify the mod is installed on the server side, not just your client—this mod requires server-side installation to function

2. Confirm your server has restarted after the mod was added

3. Check that your client's render distance setting is actually *higher* than the server's render distance

4. If your client render distance matches or is lower than the server's, the mod has no fog to remove

Other Fog Sources

Note that some fog effects come from other sources:

  • Biome-specific fog (like in swamps or caves) is separate from render distance fog and won't be affected
  • Weather effects like rain or snow can create visual obstruction
  • Nether and End dimensions have their own fog mechanics

If fog persists after confirming server installation and render distance settings, the fog you're seeing may be intentional biome or weather effects rather than render distance fog.
