Troubleshoot Blocks Appearing and Disappearing

Why Blocks Seem to Pop In and Out

When you move vertically through your world, you may notice blocks suddenly appearing or disappearing. This is Vertigo working as designed—sections outside your vertical load range are hidden from the client, and sections within range become visible.

Distinguishing Normal Behavior from Issues

If blocks are popping in smoothly as you move, Vertigo is functioning correctly. However, if you experience extreme flickering, chunks failing to load entirely, or blocks disappearing when they should remain visible, your configuration may need adjustment.

Solutions

First, verify Vertigo is compatible with your other mods. Some mods that heavily modify chunk rendering may conflict. Second, increase the vertical load range in your config if sections are disappearing too aggressively. Third, ensure your render distance setting in-game isn't set too low—Vertigo works alongside, not instead of, normal render distance.

When to Disable Vertigo

If you're building structures that require seeing multiple vertical layers simultaneously, or if compatibility issues persist, consider disabling Vertigo for that world. It's most beneficial in exploration-focused playthroughs of massive modded worlds.
