Optimize Vertigo for Multiplayer Servers

Server-Side Configuration

Vertigo operates primarily on the server side, determining what chunk data gets sent to clients. Server administrators should configure Vertigo's vertical load range based on the server's hardware and player count. A higher range uses more bandwidth and server resources; a lower range reduces both.

Client-Side Considerations

Even with Vertigo installed on the server, clients benefit from having the mod installed locally. This ensures consistent behavior and allows individual players to fine-tune their own vertical load settings if the mod supports client-side configuration.

Communication with Your Server

If you're playing on a server with Vertigo enabled, ask the administrator what range is configured. This helps you understand what you should and shouldn't be able to see vertically. If you notice extreme performance issues, report them—the server's range might be misconfigured for the player count.

Bandwidth and Latency

Vertigo reduces the amount of chunk data transmitted, which can improve latency for players on slower connections. If you're experiencing lag on a Vertigo-enabled server, the issue is likely elsewhere. If lag improves after Vertigo is enabled, it's working as intended.
