How to Handle Hunger Drain and Cooldowns While Veinmining

Why you get hungry fast

Veinmining many blocks at once applies a hunger effect to compensate for the shortcut. Instead of spending the time and food you would normally use mining each block individually, the mod charges you upfront. This means a single large vein can drain your hunger bar noticeably, and on an empty stomach you may not be able to keep veinmining.

Managing the drain

Carry food and eat before starting a big vein rather than after. If your hunger is low, the effect can leave you unable to sprint or regenerate, which is dangerous in survival or PvP situations. Treat a full hunger bar as a prerequisite for clearing a large deposit, the same way you would treat having the right pickaxe.

Cooldowns

A cooldown can be configured to limit how often veinmining triggers. If a vein only partially breaks or a second vein refuses to chain, a cooldown is the likely cause. Plan your route so you are not stuck standing next to a vein waiting for the timer.
