Maximize Your Mining Yield in Large Veins

Prepare the Right Tools

Bring a pickaxe with Fortune III to multiply ore drops when you strike blocks. Vast Mineral Seams creates huge deposits, so Fortune enchantments pay off significantly. Also carry a Silk Touch pickaxe if you want to collect raw ore blocks for later processing.

Locate and Enter a Vein

Once you find an exposed ore cluster in a cave or through mining, identify its boundaries. Large veins can span multiple chunks, so take time to map out the deposit's size before harvesting.

Mine Strategically

1. Start at the edges and work inward to avoid accidentally collapsing the vein structure

2. Use your Fortune pickaxe on the main ore blocks to maximize drops

3. Collect stone and deepslate separately if you need building materials

4. Mark your path with torches so you can navigate back out safely

Process Your Haul

Large veins yield enormous quantities of raw ore. Set up smelting or furnaces near your base to process everything efficiently. Consider using hoppers and storage systems to organize your materials.

Return for More

Veins are large but finite. Once depleted, move to a new area at the correct depth range to find another cluster.
