Vast Mineral Seams Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to create a new world for the mod to work?
No, the mod will generate new veins in unloaded chunks of existing worlds, but chunks that were already explored before installing the mod won't be regenerated. Starting a new world ensures you get the full benefit of massive ore deposits from the beginning.
Why am I not seeing huge ore veins?
Check that the mod is enabled in your config file and that vein_size_multiplier isn't set to 0 or a very low value. Also verify you're mining in unloaded or newly generated terrain, since previously explored chunks won't have the new veins.
How do I turn off ore generation for specific minerals?
Open the mod's configuration file and locate the individual ore settings—you can disable specific ores like emerald or netherite by setting their enabled value to false without affecting other minerals.
Can I use this mod with other mods that add custom ores?
Yes, the mod has an automatic detection system that finds ores added by other mods. Make sure auto_discover_modded_ores is set to true in your config, and newly detected ores will appear in large veins automatically.
What's the difference between vein_size_multiplier and attempt_multiplier?
Vein_size_multiplier controls how large each individual ore cluster is, while attempt_multiplier controls how many times the mod tries to spawn veins in a given area—higher attempt_multiplier means more frequent veins, not bigger ones.
How do I stop ore generation in the Nether?
Set nether_generation_enabled to false in your configuration file to disable all vast mineral seam generation in the Nether while keeping Overworld generation active.
Can I adjust where ores spawn vertically?
Yes, each ore type has min_y and max_y settings that control the minimum and maximum height at which veins will generate, letting you customize spawn ranges per mineral.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
Large ore veins themselves don't cause lag, but if you set attempt_multiplier very high, it can increase chunk generation time. Start with default settings and adjust gradually if you want more veins.
Do modded ores automatically get added to large veins?
If auto_discover_modded_ores is true, the mod will find new ores from other mods and detect them; if auto_enable_discovered_modded_ores is also true, they'll spawn in large veins automatically without manual configuration.
How do I know if the mod is actually working?
Explore newly generated terrain (chunks you haven't visited before) and look for unusually large clusters of ore in caves or exposed stone—if you see dense pockets of the same ore type, the mod is working. You can also enable debug_logging in the config to see generation messages in your log file.
