How to Make Enchanted Items Show Different Textures
Why Enchantment Variants Are Useful
Enchantment-based CIT lets a sword, tool, or armor piece change appearance depending on what enchantments it carries. This is handy for packs that want, say, a glowing look for high-tier gear or distinct visuals per enchantment type. Variants-CIT supports enchantments as a variant condition out of the box.
Adding an Enchantment Condition
In your .properties file, set items to the base item, then add an enchantment condition key. The condition checks whether the held item has the specified enchantment. You can combine multiple enchantment checks if you want a texture to require several at once. Point texture at the PNG you want shown when the condition passes.
Ordering and Priority
When several rules could match the same item, Variants-CIT picks based on rule order and specificity. Put your most specific rules (multiple enchantments) above broad ones (single enchantment) so the right texture wins. Reload with F3+T after each edit. If two rules fight, simplify by merging them into one file with clearer conditions rather than duplicating textures.
