How to Give Potions and Music Discs Unique Textures

Potions

Potions are a common target because vanilla only varies them by color. With Variants-CIT you can assign a full custom texture per potion. Create a .properties file with items set to the potion item, then add a condition matching the potion type (for example, the potion effect or the potion's registry name). Point texture at your PNG. Because potions share one base item, the condition is what separates them, so make sure each rule targets a distinct potion.

Music Discs

Music discs are similar: they all share the same item ID but differ by the disc variant. Add a condition keyed to the specific disc, then supply the matching texture. This lets you reskin individual discs without touching the others.

Goat Horns and Axolotl Buckets

Goat horns and axolotl buckets also have internal variants (horn sound, axolotl color). Use the same pattern: one .properties file per variant, a condition selecting that variant, and a texture line. Reload with F3+T and check each variant in-game. If a texture does not appear, verify the condition value matches the variant exactly.
