How do I create my first home?
Stand at the location you want to save, then type `/sethome [name]` (for example, `/sethome base`). The plugin will confirm the home was created and you can teleport back anytime with `/home base`.
What happens if I try to teleport to a home that's now blocked by lava or fire?
The plugin automatically scans the destination block before teleporting you. If it detects hazards like lava, fire, or cacti, it will find a safe nearby ground block to place you on instead, so you won't take damage.
Can I teleport while I'm in combat or taking damage?
No—the plugin cancels your teleport automatically if you take damage, move, or enter combat during the warmup delay. You must wait until you're safe and still before the teleport completes.
How do I let my friend visit one of my homes?
Use `/betterhomes share [home] [player]` to grant access to a specific home, or use `/betterhomes public [home]` to let anyone on the server visit it. Your friend can then teleport with `/home [yourname]:[homename]`.
Is there a limit to how many homes I can create?
By default yes, but the limit depends on your server's configuration. Players with the `betterhomes.bypass.limit` permission can create unlimited homes.
How do I rename a home after I've created it?
Use `/betterhomes rename [oldname] [newname]` to change the name of an existing home. Your coordinates and settings stay the same—only the name updates.
What's the difference between the /home command and the /homes menu?
`/home [name]` teleports you directly to a specific home, while `/homes` opens a visual inventory menu where you can browse all your homes with page controls and click to teleport. The menu is easier if you have many homes.
Can I move a home to a new location without deleting and recreating it?
Yes—stand at the new location and use `/betterhomes move [name]`. The home keeps its name and sharing settings but updates to your current coordinates.
Why does my teleport have a delay before it happens?
The plugin includes a warmup delay to prevent teleport spam and give you time to cancel if you change your mind. After the warmup completes, there's also a cooldown timer before you can teleport again—unless you have the `betterhomes.bypass.cooldown` permission.
How do I remove a home I no longer need?
Use `/delhome [name]` to delete a single home, or ask an admin to use `/betterhomes clearhomes [yourname]` to delete all your homes at once. The plugin shows a confirmation screen to prevent accidental deletions.
