Enhance Water Reflections and Transparency
Open Reflection Settings
Access your shader options menu and navigate to the reflection or water-specific section. VanillaRTXLite provides dedicated controls for water surface behavior.
Tune Water Properties
Look for these common adjustments:
- Reflection Strength: Increases how much the water surface mirrors the sky, terrain, and objects. Higher values create mirror-like water; lower values keep it more transparent.
- Water Transparency: Controls how far you can see through water. Increase to see deeper underwater; decrease for murkier, more atmospheric water.
- Wave Distortion: Adjusts how much water surface ripples distort reflections. More distortion creates dynamic, realistic movement; less creates calm, clear surfaces.
Observe Changes In-Game
Travel to an ocean, river, or lake and observe how your settings affect the water. Try different times of day—water reflections change dramatically with sun position. Experiment near waterfalls and in shallow versus deep water to see how transparency interacts with the terrain below. If reflections look too glossy or unrealistic, reduce reflection strength slightly and increase wave distortion for natural-looking movement.
