How to Hide or Disable Specific HUD Elements with VanillaHUD

Why Hide Elements

Some players want a cleaner screen: no bossbar during fights, no action bar spam, or no sidebar when a server uses it for ads. VanillaHUD gives per-element toggles so you can switch off only what bothers you.

Toggling Elements Off

Open the mod's config screen and find the section listing the HUD parts it manages. Each element typically has an enable/disable switch:

  • Bossbar: Turn it off to remove the boss health bar entirely, or keep it but change its behavior.
  • Action bar: Disable it to stop the overlay text above the hotbar from showing.
  • Sidebar: Disable it to hide the scoreboard sidebar on the right.

Flip the switch for the element you want gone. Changes usually apply immediately, so you can close the screen and check in-game.

Things to Watch For

Hiding the sidebar also hides scoreboard-based info like server timers or team scores, so only disable it if you do not need that data. Hiding the bossbar means you lose boss health tracking during fights. If an element reappears after a restart, make sure you saved the config rather than only previewing the change. If another mod also controls the same element, disable it in one place only to avoid conflicts. To restore an element, simply re-enable its toggle.
