VanillaHUD Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the VanillaHUD config screen?
Open the mod list from the main menu or pause screen, select VanillaHUD, and click the config button. In-game you can also bind a key in Controls to open the config directly.
Where do I start after installing VanillaHUD?
Open the config screen once and look through the tabs for bossbar, action bar, and sidebar. Each element has its own toggle and position settings, so enable only the ones you want to change and leave the rest on vanilla defaults.
Does VanillaHUD replace the vanilla HUD or just edit it?
It edits the existing vanilla elements rather than replacing them, so your bossbar, action bar, and sidebar keep their normal behavior. Only the appearance and placement you configure are changed.
Why aren't my VanillaHUD changes showing up in game?
Most changes apply live, but some need the relevant element to actually be on screen, like a bossbar during a fight or a sidebar on a server that uses one. If nothing changes at all, check that the element isn't still disabled in the config.
How do I reset VanillaHUD back to default settings?
Use the reset button in the config screen to restore defaults, or delete the mod's config file and relaunch the game to regenerate it. Deleting the file is the cleanest way to undo a mess of changes.
Can I move the bossbar somewhere other than the top of the screen?
Yes, the bossbar position is configurable, so you can anchor it to a different edge or offset it from its default spot. Pair this with the appearance options if you also want to change its size or style.
Does VanillaHUD work on servers, or is it client-side only?
It's a client-side mod, so it works on any server without needing to be installed server-side. Other players won't see your HUD changes, and some servers with custom HUDs may override parts of it.
Will VanillaHUD conflict with other HUD mods?
It can conflict with mods that also reposition or restyle the same vanilla elements, since both may try to control the bossbar, action bar, or sidebar. If elements look wrong or overlap, disable the overlapping feature in one of the mods.
Does VanillaHUD hurt performance or FPS?
It only touches HUD rendering, so the performance impact is negligible compared to world or entity rendering. If you notice stutter, it's more likely another mod or your shaders than VanillaHUD.
Can I hide the sidebar or action bar completely with VanillaHUD?
Yes, each element has a toggle to hide it entirely, which is useful for a cleaner screen or for recording. You can re-enable it any time from the same config screen.
