Find and Observe Fireflies in Your World

Where Fireflies Spawn

Fireflies only appear in swamp biomes and mangrove swamp biomes during nighttime.

Best Viewing Conditions

For the most magical experience, visit swamps at night when the sky is dark. Fireflies are more visible against the dark water and vegetation. If your render distance is set low, increase it to see more fireflies across a wider area.

Exploring Swamp Biomes

Use a map or biome locator to find nearby swamps if you're unsure where they are. Once you arrive, set up a base or simply wander through the terrain at night. The fireflies will spawn naturally around you, creating an ambient, atmospheric effect. Consider building near water—fireflies are particularly visible over swamp water at night.
