Adjust Shadow Intensity and Softness

Access Shader Settings

Open the Shader Options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls settings) or through the Video Settings screen. Look for the Vanilish Shaders profile in your shader list.

Customize Shadow Parameters

Within the shader options, you'll find sliders for shadow-related settings. Adjust the shadow distance to control how far shadows render from your character—lower values improve performance on older systems. The shadow softness slider lets you make shadows more blurred or crisp depending on your preference.

Fine-Tune Bloom Intensity

Locate the bloom or glow settings to control how bright light sources appear. Reduce bloom if you find torches, lava, or glowstone too intense, or increase it for more dramatic lighting effects around bright blocks.

Test Your Changes

After adjusting settings, move to different lighting conditions—stand near torches indoors, go outside during day and night, and check shadowed areas. This helps you find the balance between visual quality and performance that works best for your hardware and personal preference.
