Track a Named Entity by UUID

Identifying Individual Entities

When you have multiple entities of the same type, the UUID command helps you distinguish between them and track specific individuals.

Finding a Specific Entity's UUID

1. Use /uuid with a selector that narrows down your target:

`

/uuid @e[type=horse,name="Shadowmere",limit=1]

`

2. The mod will return the unique identifier for that entity.

3. Copy this UUID for reference or use in commands.

Using the UUID Later

Once you have the UUID, you can use it in entity selectors with other commands:

`

/data get entity <UUID>

`

This allows you to:

  • Monitor a specific pet or mount across your world
  • Track named mobs for farming or breeding purposes
  • Identify which entity is which when managing multiple similar creatures
  • Create command chains that target exact entities by their UUID

Why This Matters

UUIDs are essential when working with datapacks, command blocks, or complex automation. They're the only way to guarantee you're targeting the exact entity you intend, not just any mob of that type.
