Find the UUID of a Specific Entity

Using the UUID Command

To retrieve the UUID of any entity currently loaded in your world, use the /uuid command followed by the entity's name or selector.

Basic Syntax

`

/uuid <entity>

`

Replace <entity> with either:

  • A player name: /uuid Steve
  • An entity selector: /uuid @e[type=creeper,limit=1]
  • A specific mob type: /uuid @e[type=zombie]

Example Usage

To find your own UUID:

`

/uuid @s

`

To find the UUID of the nearest armor stand:

`

/uuid @e[type=armor_stand,limit=1,sort=nearest]

`

The command will output the UUID in chat, which you can then copy and use for other purposes like entity selectors, data commands, or tracking specific mobs across sessions.

Tips

  • Only loaded entities will return a UUID. If an entity is unloaded, the command won't find it.
  • UUIDs are permanent for each entity and don't change unless the entity is removed and recreated.
  • Use selectors like @e, @p, @a to target multiple entities at once.
