Utility Golems Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I build my first golem?
Gather the required blocks (Hay Bales, Mud, or Logs depending on which golem you want) and stack them in the world matching the golem's shape, then place a Carved Pumpkin on top to activate it. Each golem type has a different recipe—Hay Golems need two Hay Bales stacked vertically, Mud Golems need five Mud blocks in an iron golem shape, and Timber Golems need two matching Log blocks stacked vertically.
Do golems need power or fuel to work?
No, utility golems run entirely without power cables, energy systems, or fuel—they work automatically once built and will continuously perform their tasks as long as they have access to supply chests nearby.
Why isnt my golem picking up items from the chest?
Make sure a chest containing the items the golem needs is placed close enough to its work area—Hay Golems need seeds and bonemeal, Mud Golems need crops to harvest, and Timber Golems need saplings nearby. If the chest is too far away, the golem won't be able to access it.
Can I move a golem after I build it?
Golems are living mobs that move around to perform their tasks, but you cannot pick them up or relocate them like blocks—you'll need to let it burn or be destroyed and rebuild it in a new location if you want to move it.
What happens if my timber golem catches fire?
If a Timber Golem stays on fire for too long, it will transform into a Charcoal Golem, which has different abilities focused on gathering and replanting saplings instead of chopping trees. You can prevent this by keeping the golem away from fire and lava.
How do I heal my golem?
Each golem type heals when you feed it specific items: Hay Golems heal with bonemeal, Mud Golems heal with mud blocks, Timber Golems heal with sticks, and Charcoal Golems heal with charcoal.
Will golems protect my farm from mobs?
Yes—Hay Golems attack skeletons and are immune to arrows, while Mud Golems attack any mob that breaks crops in their farm area, making them useful for farm defense.
Can I use golems for other tasks besides farming and woodcutting?
No, utility golems are specialized for farming (Hay and Mud Golems) and woodcutting (Timber and Charcoal Golems)—they cannot be used for mining, fishing, or other automation tasks.
Do golems despawn or disappear?
Golems persist in the world like other mobs and won't despawn, but they can be killed by mobs, fire, lava, or other damage sources—if destroyed, you'll need to rebuild them.
Can I have multiple golems working in the same area?
Yes, you can build multiple golems to work together—for example, a Hay Golem and Mud Golem can both tend the same farm, or multiple Timber Golems can harvest different tree types in the same forest.
