Updating World Icon Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I make my world icon update?
Just load the world normally — the mod regenerates the icon automatically each time the world is loaded. No keybind, command, or config change is needed to trigger it.
Does the icon update when I quit or when I load?
The new icon is captured when the world is loaded, so the image you see in the world list reflects the state of the world at that moment. The previous icon is replaced rather than kept as a history.
Why is my world icon still the same after loading?
Make sure the mod is actually loaded for that world's session and that you fully exited and re-entered the world list. If the icon still looks identical, the view at load time may simply be very similar to the old one.
Can I choose which build shows up as my world icon?
The icon is taken from wherever the player is positioned when the world loads, so stand at or near the build you want featured before loading in. Positioning yourself so the build is in view is the practical way to control it.
Does it work on servers or only singleplayer?
It targets the singleplayer world icon shown in the world selection list. Multiplayer server icons are handled by the server, not by this mod.
Will this break my existing worlds or the icon file?
No — it only rewrites the world's icon image, which is cosmetic and separate from world data. Your terrain, inventory, and progress are untouched.
Does the icon update if I load the world but don't move?
Yes, the capture happens on load regardless of movement, so the icon reflects your spawn or last position view at that moment. Moving around afterward won't change the icon until the next load.
Is this mod compatible with other world or UI mods?
It's a small, focused mod that only touches the world icon, so conflicts are unlikely. If another mod also manages world icons or the world list, test them together and check which one takes priority.
Does it hurt performance or cause lag on load?
The extra work is a single icon capture per world load, so the impact is negligible. Any noticeable load delay is almost always from other mods or world size, not this one.
Can I use the changing icon to track progress in a long world?
Yes — since the icon refreshes each load, it naturally shows your latest base or surroundings, giving you a rough visual timeline as the world evolves. Keep in mind only the current icon is stored, so older views aren't saved automatically.
