Combine Enchanted Books to Increase Levels

Anvil Combination Method

This is the only way to obtain enchantments beyond the vanilla limit in Survival Mode.

1. Obtain two enchanted books with the same enchantment (they can be different levels)

2. Place an anvil in your world

3. Open the anvil interface

4. Put the first book in the left slot

5. Put the second book in the right slot

6. The anvil will combine them, creating a book with a higher enchantment level

7. The resulting level depends on the input levels—combining identical levels typically increases by 1

Resource Cost

Combining books in an anvil requires experience levels. Higher-level combinations cost more experience. Plan your combinations carefully, as repeatedly using an anvil on the same item increases repair costs exponentially.
